Artists Unlimited Presents
Bart Borremans and Ewout Pierreux met as teenagers in the music academy of Halle (Vlaams-Brabant) and never stopped playing together. In times where the cultural sector lives hard times, they wish to bring public and artists together via this livestream.
About Ewout Pierreux
Despite his late vocation, pianist Ewout Pierreux has quickly become one of the most surprising and valued pianists of a new generation of jazz musicians.
Pierreux worked as a pianist for 'Joost Zweegers sings Chet Baker' and the performance 'Goddam! A tribute to Nina Simone', but he is first and foremost a jazz pianist with his own trio. He plays a repertoire of mostly his own compositions interspersed with standards. Pierreux also played with well-known Belgian jazz musicians including Frank Vaganée, Bert Joris, Kurt Van Herck, Herman Pardon, Bart Defoort, Piet Verbist and Dré Pallemaerts.
As a pianist Pierreux is not only technically gifted, he also plays with great mastery and a beautiful sound. Bop is the starting point, but lyricism, firm swing, compelling rhythms and unexpected colours give his music a personal touch.
